Journey of Awakening (Part 1)

Journey of Awakening (Part 1)

In a previous post I have shared some pictures of my recent trip from Mexico to Canada to promote Awakening. Here I am going to share a bit more about the places I have visited and what these places mean to me.

The above picture shows me in front of the property where I lived in 1999 after my immigration to Canada. My wife and I moved there in the middle of May 1999. As our landlord had left behind his whole collection of books, I came for the first time in touch with the idea that within the foreseeable future some major energetic changes in our realm of being were about to take place. Especially there was the book 11:11 by Solara which caught my attention. Solara was talking about an impending overlap of certain vibrational fields which would reach its climax in 2011. This energetic overlap would allow for a transition from the reality we were living in back then into a higher vibrational reality, including a higher consciousness. She had begun to prepare for 2011 already in 1987 (at the time of the Harmonic Convergence in August 1987) with a grand ceremony at the Great Pyramid in Giza, Egypt. Ever since 1987 (and continuing until 2011), Solara had traveled with dedicated people to sacred places all over the Earth and performed rituals there to open these places energetically for what was to come.

Solara’s book touched my deeply and helped me to understand why my own life had taken such dramatic turns lately, and it made it more clear to me why I had such trouble to relate to the common life that we all were supposed to lead.

I also found in my landlord’s library some books by Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov. Aivanhov originally came from Bulgaria and later moved to Canada, where he taught his wisdom to his followers in the Canadian province of Quebec. A friend of our landlord mentioned that a group of Aivanhov’s students was living in a community somewhere in Jaffray, BC, a 4-hour drive from Kaslo. So, one day we went for a road trip down to Jaffray and were indeed able to find this community. We were invited to spend 2 (unforgettable) days with them and they went to great efforts to share as much as possible about Aivanhov’s wisdom with us.

Later in that year I learned about an Ashram, which was supposed to be across the lake from our rented property and where there was to be a nice spiritual book store. After some searching (back then no internet was available) I was able to find Yasodhara Ashram in Kootenay Bay, BC and to spend a couple of hours on their grounds. This short encounter touched my wife and me so deeply that we decided to study Yoga there.

At the end of December 1999, we moved to Yasodhara Ashram to celebrate the beginning of the new millennium there and to attend their 3-month Yoga Development Course (YDC), beginning in early January of 2000. The pictures below show me with ‘Awakening’ in front of the Temple of Divine Light as well as on graduation day of the YDC 2000 class with my teacher Swami Radhananda. I left a copy of my book with the ashram bookstore and I am hoping it will be included with their selection in the future.

As you may imagine, it was very important to me to visit my former home in Kaslo as well as the Ashram with my book ‘Awakening’, and to infuse this endeavor with the energies and inspiration these places have given me.

From here I began to introduce my book to various book- and metaphysical stores around British Columbia, and I will write about this in another blog post.
